What Is So Special About An Android Phone?

Everybody talks about android phones and the android mobile operating system, but what is android and what is an android phone?

Simply put, android is the new mobile operating system that was developed very secretly by Andy Rubin, until he ran out of money and had to allow Google take over it. He stayed at the head of project and by 2007 they were signing patents for the new operating system built out of Linux. In the same year, several mobile hardware manufacturer, carriers and interested parties joined to form the open handset alliance. In 2007, the world first saw the Android operating system and in the following years, an android phone set the benchmark for every smart phone.

All android phones provide a nice integrated touch screen experience. Not that touch screens were novel wonders of android, but it surely took advantage of haptic facilities. Even now an android phone is more likely to feature a capacitive or resistive touch screen instead of a traditional keyboard or a qwerty keyboard.

But there were other high end touch screen devices and platforms to vie with, such as Apple’s iPhone. So how did the android phone become more popular than the best of the best? Simple, it threw open the doors for everyone to participate and tinker with it. Android, the operating system, lets developers create applications that users can download, install and modify. Whereas, iPhone kept its owners on a short lease and treated them like immature teenagers who did not know what was good for them!

We are very excited about android phones on offer by LG. What LG has to offer is the best in entertainment. For instance, the LG E730 Optimus Sol has an AMOLED display with HD playback capabilities, a 5 MP back shooter for vivid pictures and a front facing camera for video chat on 3G. LG E510 or Optimus Hub as it known in the Indian markets come with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread installed with indications of a future OTA update to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Do not buy the iPhone if you love customizing and personalizing your things, you will become frustrated. An android phone, on the other hand, will let you customize almost about everything from the screen, wallpaper to the applications installed inside it. Not only the applications, an android phone is available in different form factors and features that one cannot expect either from Blackberry or Apple.
